It may be getting colder, but December has been a little warmer with my DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea advent calendar.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day One
Day one of the calendar started with Sleigh Ride, one of the Christmas Teas. DAVIDsTEA describes Sleigh Ride as cinnamon, apples, raisins, almonds, and hibiscus combine for a tea that is sweet, tart, and earthy. And beet pieces make it as nice and rosy as a caroler’s cheeks.
Not a huge fan of this one, but I am not a fan of cinnamon in general, so no surprise there. He liked it though and it does smell great. Definitely a love it or hate it kinda thing. And now I have the marmite song stuck in my head.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day Two
Next up was Mango Madness. This white tea is a delicious mix of mango, apple, candied pineapple, orange and more. It seems a little summery for an advent calendar but definitely delicious. We both enjoyed this one but is a little too sweet for me, probably why he loved this one.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day Three
Sometimes you just want a regular cup of black tea with none of the frills and day 3 of the DAVIDSTEA advent calendar provided that. A little gold pt of orange pekoe. Better than you would get from most orange pekoe teas, especially since many are just bagged tea. Probably a good tea to get those who drink cheaper bagged tea into the world of loose, since it is smooth and doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day Four
A green tea for day 4 of the DAVIDsTEA advent calendar, organic sweet almond green tea. With a nutty kiss of almond and an organic base of green tea, this sweet and subtle tea is meant to be a guilt free version of almond scented cookies. I think the almond would have worked better with a different tea base, the green seems a little off, but it is delicious. Sweet and somehow creamy tasting this one was a winner for us.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day Five
Another fruit infusion for day five of the DAVIDsTEA advent calendar. Banana Nut Bread is supposed to taste like a fresh baked load of banana bread with dates, currents, almonds and of course, banana. I wouldn’t know, because he drank all of this one before I had a chance to try it. I am guessing that means it was really good and likely quite sweet. It made a mess of my tea strainer though, and seemed kind of oily – so maybe not something I would love.
DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar Day Six
Finally, one that was all for me, because touch my sparkly stuff and die! Well not really, but I loved my last bag of glitter and gold and guilted him into leaving the tin for me since he drank all of banana nut bread. Maybe it is a new formula or because it is a smaller sample and didn’t get quite the usual mix, but the tin from my DAVIDsTEA advent calendar seemed less sparkly than usual. The hint of cinnamon in this one is not too overpowering and gives it that nice Christmassy taste.
