Proving that Dollar store brands Kozmic Colours and Mariposa are likely the same company. I recently found these Nail Therapy sets at my local Dollarama. They are branded Mariposa but all of the kits seem to have Kozmic Colours products in them.
Being a nail polish addict can get expensive, and I have had luck with some of their polishes before so I thought I would try out one of these kits. Dollarama sells several different ones, but I went with the basics everyone should have in their nail polish kit. Base coat, top coat, quick dry drops and a cuticle oil.
Mariposa Nail Therapy – Kozmic Colours Primer Base Coat
Surprisingly, the Kozmic Colours Primer Base Coat is actually decent. Are there better ones out there? Certainly, but if you don’t usually use one, it is a decent price and makes the kit worth picking up. It dries quickly and after a use with no staining, I tried it with a polish that tends to stain really badly. There was some staining around the edges but no blue nails which is always a plus.
Mariposa Nail Therapy – Kozmic Colours Amazing Shine Top Coat
Sadly, the top coat did not live up to the base coat. It does have a high shine finish and is good for topping up for a better shine. However, it does not dry quickly and the few times I have tried it, got “pillow nails” despite doing my nails in the afternoon, ages before going to bed. Maybe the ones in the other kits that are not as high shine dry better but this was a let down.
Mariposa Nail Therapy – Kozmic Colours Quick Dry Drops
Kozmic Colours’ Quick Dry Drops also work fairly well. I have tried better but at a much higher cost. The dropper is a bit touchy so I recommend not filling it with too much. The first time I tried it, I ended up with way too much and oily fingers. So just fill the dropper with a little each time. It really helped given the quality of the top coat too.
Mariposa Nail Therapy – Kozmic Colours Green Tea Nourishing Cuticle Oil
Many people do not use a cuticle oil but removing polish can be harsh. The Kozmic Colours Green Tea Nail Nourishing Oil is another product that makes the Mariposa Nail Therapy kit worth picking up. Like the other products, there are certainly better oils out there but at under $1 per product, it is a great affordable option. Cuticle oils are ones that tend to be missed by the budget companies too so nice to see one on the market.
Overall, I wouldn’t use the top coat but the other three products make the orange boxed Mariposa Nail Therapy set worth picking up. I keep the Green Tea oil at work where I often want to touch up my moisture levels but don’t want my regular ones going missing. They have other sets too depending on your nail needs. So check out Dollarama to see if they have one that works for you!

Oh man I am so guilty of not using cuticle oil often enough. I know I should be!
I’ve always wondered about Kozmic Colours polishes. I’ve tried Mariposa eye shadows before – I was pleasantly surprised.
I have the same kit. For Christmas. But didn’t really read the instructions. What do you put on first and second and third and fourth. .. I put it on last night but I think I didn’t do it in the right way because I woke up and it’s like it was never put on. .. lol I should have read it before I though the boxing out . Can anyone please help
You use the base, then whatever colour polish, then the shine top coat. The quick dry drops protect the polish and top coat while drying. The green tea oil goes on once polish is dry to nourish your cuticles (or in between manicures, but be sure to remove any oil from the nail before doing them again).
Thank you so much. ❤️
