This month, we are doing Nails We Wouldn’t Normally Do for #CBBxManiMonday. Quite an open theme so expect some interesting manis over the month. One of the things I rarely wear is red polish. Some of it is just that it always looks too bright against my skin tone. It is hard to find a red that works. But also, my dad used to shout at us for wearing bright red makeup as teens.
So for my first week, I went with Avon Gel Finish Roses are Red. Then added stamping in patterns I rarely use because lining them up perfectly is so hard when your nails are not perfectly shaped. Since I am wearing these awesome long falsies at the moment (review coming soon), seemed like an ideal pairing.
Avon Gel Finish is a classic red. Shown above with only ONE COAT! It is creamy, applies well with minimal pooling. It is a bit of a stainer though so make sure you wear a good base coat. That is to be expected with great opacity though and I always wear a base coat anyway,
The black stamping using MoYou Fashionista plates and Hit the Bottle Black as Night made the red look a lot darker. As you can see on my middle finger, I am terrible at lining them up but with the falsies, it has more to do with the pattern barely fitting on the nail. Note to self – file them down a bit next time.
As always, I do #CBBxManiMonday with some other bloggers. So head over to see how Cosmetic Proof, Prairie Beauty Love and See the World in Pink did with this challenge.
