You have probably noticed these sets in Shoppers Drug Mart. With their pretty red and gold bucket containers, the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted sets are hard to miss. For $35 you get 12 mini Quo by Orly nail polishes in various colours to take you through the holiday season. The bucket is great for storing makeup brushes or cotton balls etc once you are done too. I will have manis featuring some of these polishes over the coming weeks but for now, check out the colours included. Warning, this one is photo heavy!
The set has a good range of colours, from neutrals to a dark red or blue. Even a few shimmery shades to go with the mostly creme finishes. Like the Best of the Best set, these are mini bottles with smaller brushes so they do take a little working to get a smooth finish but have some great colours. I am always torn by minis. I like trying all of the colours but just wish they had bigger brushes.
The colours are mostly on the lighter side, so if you are looking for dark vampy colours for winter, Perfectly Painted is probably not the set for you. But if you want a selection of colours that can go from work appropriate to evening wear, it has some great shades.
Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted – The Neutrals
There are three neutral colours included in the set. A pink-peach nude, a light grey-purple and a peach shade. The nude is peachier than the one included in the Best of the Best collection and a little easier to work with. It levels nicely on the second coat and would probably work for most skin tones.
The grey-purple has a hint more purple than my photos show and is probably my favourite of the creme shades for fall. It has a slight shimmer that shows when the light is right which makes it more wearable too. It is quite sheer so multiple coats with dry time works best.
The peach shade was more jelly tan the others and needed three coats. It will probably make a reappearance for a stamped jelly sandwich manicure around Valentines!
Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted – The Glitters
No surprise that I loved the glittery shades in this. There is silvery-purple shade with larger silver glitter and a sand effect type jewel toned pink with gold shimmer. Both have excellent coverage and were more forgiving with the mini brushes. Both shown here with two coats and no top coat. Despite the texture, both were fairly smooth to the touch once dry.
Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted – The Purple-Pinks
The set included several pink shades. Two have more of a purple tone to them with one more pink and one more purple. The lighter of the two had a surprisingly good formula and application compared to some of the other shades in the Perfectly Painted collection. It was very smooth and almost a one coater. The darker one is less opaque and a little streaky so make sure the first coat is dry before a second thick-ish coat to level out the colour.
Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted – The Reds
The remaining pink is more of a hot pink and matches well with the two red polishes in the collection. A bright typical red and a darker maroon red. The hot pink is similar in formula to the lighter of the other two pinks. A little streaky if you do not work quickly enough but levels well.
The red is more jelly in formula but has decent opacity and a tomato red colour that tends to be a bit more forgiving for those of us who have lobster hands with red polishes. The darker red was quite streaky on the first coat but levelled well too and has a nice shiny finish.
Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted – The Blues
Finally, the last of the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted set is the blues. A light turquoise and a darker teal-peacock blue. Both were a little streaky on the first coat but levelled with a second thicker coat and have great colours. I love blues for the winter so expect to see a bit of these, starting with this mani!
You can see the almost jelly like finish on the darker shade and high shine even without top coat! Some manis using the other colours are still to come but now that you have seen all the shades, which is your fave?
Quo by Orly’s Perfectly Painted set is available for a limited time and is exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart. It is a great way to try a bunch of shades so pick one up now. Sadly, they do not list the names of the shades and there are a few similar colours. So make sure to take a swatch and mini bottle with you if picking up a full size of a shade you love.
Of course I like the 2 slightly textured sparkling ones! These are so pretty
