I already mentioned the DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar in my overview of tea advent calendars for 2016, but since I got mine already, thought I would show you what is included. They go on public sale tomorrow morning and often sell out quickly, so if you are interested, pick one up soon. The design is a beautiful blue with a garland of lights, similar in design to the colour changing perfect cup out tomorrow. It costs $40 and includes 24 different teas including the new holiday and winter teas.
The inside design of the DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar matches some of the other winter items with a snowy mountain scene with cute animals dressed for winter. The pale blue, green and pink theme of the gold dipped nordic mugs is echoes in the colour scheme too.
Each day, you get a small tin of a different tea – no doubles in the calendar. The samples are generally enough to make two cups or a single (smallish) latte. You can either share the tea joy or keep a second sample for later in the day.
Ingredients for all teas are shown on the back of the advent calendar so you can check for any allergens, but the box has steeping instructions and caffeine levels shown as a quick guide.
Last year, the steeping instructions were on the back of the boxes, this time you can find them on the bottom. DAVIDsTEA went a little further this time and as you try your teas, you turn the boxes over to complete the wintery scene. How cute is this? It means that those people who changed the boxes into numerical order last time for quicker opening will have a jigsaw on their hands if they do it this year!
There is also an added gift in this calendar to make it even more worthwhile. If you love any of the teas, you can use the little card to get $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. So if you find a new favourite, or want a new mug to go with your teas, use it to buy them for less.
Want to know what teas are in the calendar? I know many people want to keep the surprise even though they are listed on the box, so I will spoiler it for you. But expect to find lots of warming wintery teas including some of the new ones and my personal favourite, Hot Chocolate which makes the most amazing lattes – hot chocolate and way less calories!
