I was lucky enough to get a mini bottle of Fiendish Fancies Sleep Eludes Me at the press preview at Indie Expo Canada. I knew I had to keep it for a Canada Day manicure. The name of this polish was so perfect as Lara and I had mentioned earlier that morning that we got no sleep the night before the event. Sleep Eludes Me is part of the Nevermore collection and is inspired by the illimitable dominion of the Red Death in the Roger Corman films of Edgar Allan Poe.
Fiendish Fancies Sleep Eludes Me is beautiful red polish is completely opaque in two coats. It has gorgeous red with flakies making it so much more wearable for me than a red creme. Thankfully, the red leans a little cooler while still having that gorgeous jewel tone of the full Nevermore collection so no lobster hands either. Reds are so hard to wear on my skintone.
It has good opacity but not quite a one coater. The second coat helps build the flakies too for a nicer look than one thicker coat. The dry time is decent and it has a great formula. Not too thin that it floods the cuticle but not so thick it is hard to work with.
Canada Day Manicure with Fiendish Fancies Sleep Eludes Me & Kayla Ray Vinyls Maple Leaf Decals
For an easy Canada Day look, I added a white maple leaf decal from Kayla Ray Vinyls. These were a gift with the Canada Flag stencils I bought but look perfect against this red shimmery background. Sadly, I tried a new top coat and it smudged the red despite good drying time. I had touched them without smudging too. So I think that is more the top coat than the polish.
