So I think I may have found my go to colour for the rest of spring into summer when I don’t want to wear something bright and it is Paparazzi from the Quo by Orly Color Amp’d line. For those not familiar, Quo is exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart and while the cosmetics don’t have a partner, the nail polishes are made with Orly and it is rare that I find a fail colour or finish in the line. Plus, it helps feed my addiction to Shoppers Optimum points so I can get more free stuff so a win-win for me.
You will have seen Paparazzi make an appearance in my Pueen Love Box 2 review if you want to see a few more swatches. This beautiful subtle holographic purple is fairly sheer on the first coat but the second coat evens out the look and adds a load of holo making this a dream colour for me.
Some holos look terrible without a decent light source to make them shine, but this is not the case for Quo by Orly Color Ampd Paparazzi. The silvery shimmer looks great in the shade and makes the purple really wearable for those who tend towards nudes and not “real colours” on their nails.
My original swatch did not do the holo in Quo Paparazzi justice so here is a closeup. As you can see, there is some visible nail line with two coats and maybe a third would have made it completely opaque. From the three swatches, you can also see that this colour shifts a lot with the light and colours around it so goes with almost anything.
I know that Orly have the Color Amp’d line in Target in the US, but similar to other collections, I wish they added the U when making the Canadian line. They are making new bottle logos etc anyway so why not use the Canadian spelling of colour? #petpeeves.
In good news though, the new Color Amp’d line includes flexible technology that helps stop that horrible pillow nail when you go to bed too soon after painting your nails. The special seal coat (no light needed) and polymers in the polish bounce back when something hits your nail limiting the damage. It won’t help if you do something that would cause a chip but those pesky little dings or finger marks when drying or pillow marks aren’t going to happen. Even better, it is also fast drying so you can get on with your day without walking around like a zombie waiting for your nails to dry before you do anything.
It promises long wear, but three days is about all I will wear a polish for so I don’t know if it truly will last all week but it was still looking decent on day three with some visible wear on the tips but no major chips. For people less fussy about tipwear and not in need of a colour change for upcoming nailart, it would definitely still be wearable.
