Each month, the Canadian Beauty Bloggers choose a theme for featured posts, and this month is gold. This ties in so well with the Queen’s birthday celebrations over the weekend as what is more royal than gold? Although, if I had waited to paint my nails, I would have gone with neon green. The Queen rocks Neon at Ninety much better than I can now though. Instead, I have three gold polishes from different Avon lines to compare.
Avon Nailwear Pro+ Golden Vision
Golden Vision from Avon’s Nailwear Pro+ line is the coolest toned of the three polishes. Golden Vision needs three coats for full opacity. My pointer finger has two coats and while even and completely covered, there is still a little visible nail line showing. For a metallic polish, it goes on really smooth with few noticeable brush strokes. This is probably helped by the shimmer in which evens out the overall look. Dry time on this one is great but I only wore it for a day so not sure how long it lasts, but no tip-wear or chips despite a day of shopping and housework.
Avon Gel Finish in Glimmer
Avon’s Gel Finish Glimmer is more bronze with a gold shimmer and warmer toned than Golden Vision. It is more opaque and two coats will give you full coverage without noticeable brush strokes in the polish. I had this on for three days with no chipping so the gel finish does help the polish last as I will often chip polish in a couple of days. I am bad about that whole not using your nails as tools thing, and unlike the Queen, don’t have people to do stuff for me!
Comparing the two, you can see how Golden Vision is more of your typical gold. Bright and shiny with a cooler tone while Glimmer looks more bronze against it than it appears alone.
Avon Dazzlers Top Coat in Glitzy Gold
Shown here over Avon Gel Finish in Purplicious, you can see that a single coat of Avon Dazzlers in Glitzy Gold gives you plenty of payoff. No fishing around trying to get the larger glitter. The gold toned glitter is fairly warm but not so much that you couldn’t wear it with most colours and the clear base is smooth and not so thick that you are waiting forever for it to dry.
Which is your favourite of the three?
