Tea Taxi’s Tea Generation Envelope Review – Part 1 – Night Themed Teas

Tea Taxi Generation Envelope Night Theme Teas

As I mentioned last week, I will be reviewing the ten teas from the September Tea Taxi Generation Envelope over the rest of the month and today I am sharing three black teas that all have a night themed name.

Tea Taxi Generation Envelope

The September Tea Taxi Generation Envelope contained six black teas, a pu-erh, a mate and two green teas.  I separated the black teas into two loosely themed groups and will share the others in a separate post too.  Today, I have The Night Owl, Binge Watching and Fireworks.  Sure, you can binge watch during the day too, but I get my best binge watching done at night when I can’t sleep and just veg out alone.

Each tea is a 5g sample, enough to make one mug of tea and decide if you love it.  I used a 14oz mug with 12oz (ish) water for each of my samples and they were all strong enough.  The sample packs in the Tea Generation Envelope include both water temperature and steeping times for those less familiar with teas.

Tea Taxi – Fireworks (Black Tea)

Tea Taxi’s Fireworks was the first tea I pulled out of the Tea Generation Envelope and so one of the first I wanted to try, because it has chocolate and candy as ingredients.  I love a good black tea, but add chocolate or candy and you steal my heart.  Add both and I am in love.  It has a kind of toffee taste that is just delicious and some fruity sweetness from the cherries.  The page for Fireworks shows star and moon candies as well as the sprinkles so you might find some of them inside your sample if you got the Tea Generation Envelope!

Tea Taxi – The Night Owl (Black Tea)

Tea Taxi Generation Envelope The Night Owl - Ingredients

The Night Owl hits you with the sweet scent of berries and you know I am a sucker for teas with blue petals in it.  It contains black tea from Sri Lanka, edlerberries, raisins, hibiscus and natural flavours but there were no large berries in the tea and some obvious leaves and petals not in the ingredients. It smells a lot like DAVIDsTEA Blueberry Jam with some more depth the the flavour and despite not having any, is classed as a blueberry tea so must be in the flavouring.  Add a little sweetener if you find it too sour tasting and it gives the berries a delicious boost.

Tea Taxi – Binge Watching (Black Tea)

Tea Taxi Generation Envelope Binge Watching - Ingredients

Popcorn in a tea!!! Binge Watching is the unreleased tea in this month’s Tea Taxi Generation Envelope that will not be available from Tea Taxi until next month.  As subscribers, you get a new tea to try before everyone else each month.  It contains black tea, pineapple cubes, raspberries, heather, popcorn, marigold, rose and flavours.

Quite a colourful tea and unlike DAVIDsTEA’s Movie Night which has popcorn with green tea, the sweet base of Chinese black tea and fruit seem to compliment the popcorn better.  It has a sweet and almost buttery taste without being caramel corn.  You can still taste fruit.  Like popcorn with a sweet soda!

Check back next week to see some more of the teas included in the September Tea Taxi Tea Generation Envelope!
