The third of the shades from Avon’s Gel Finish shade releases for July-August 2017 is Terracotta. If you missed them, see my swatches of Rose Noir and Head In Clouds. Still to come is Violuxe and Clover. Terracotta is well named and the colour matches the name. Like the others I have tried so far, it is not quite a one coater but fully opaque in two coats and no bald spots. Dry time is good. By the time you are done one coat, it is dry enough that it is ready for a second. The finish is not quite as shiny as the other shades, but that goes with the Terracotta name. It isn’t quite satin matte either though, just less glossy.
Avon’s Gel Finish line rarely disappoints me. They are high shine, opaque polishes and come in a great variety of colours. The Gel Finish formula is three free and includes a strengthener for long lasting vivid colour with a gel like shine – no curing lamp needed.

I just had to go with something that made sense for Terracotta so went with a brick roof look using XY-Z01 stamping plate (available from AliExpress). I was trying to do all five shades with XY-Z26 but it was just staring up at me. The plate has some great geometric images and is a good starter plate. There are complaints that the XY-Z series plates are not etched well but so far no issues with the five I bought from AliExpress.
Can You Stamp With Avon Gel Finish Terracotta?
Terracotta shows quite orange when stamped. It does show over black but not as vivid as I would choose for a stamping polish personally. That being said, orange is a colour many of us rarely use for stamping and it shows well enough for occasional use. Over white and paler colours, it stamps well as an orange but does lose the more brown tone. It would not be my go to since I have orange and brown stamping polishes but works in a pinch.
