I have mentioned Wise Men’s natural hair products before, but with Father’s Day this week, seems like a good time for an update. He had tried a small sample of the Red Maple Cream Pomade in our previous post, but I recently got a full size to fully test it and compare to the Clay Pomade reviewed earlier.
Not mentioned here, but they have a great shampoo that leaves your hair feeling ultra clean. It contains White Birch Bark, a sustainable botanical extract found in the Canadian Boreal forest and renowned for its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants. It is great for washing your hair after using a lot of product and rinses easily, even with the clay pomade.

Glacier Clay Pomade in Reusable Glass Bottle 60 ml / 32 $ CAD (also available in a minimalist tube for $24)
“This pomade is made with hand-picked organic glacial marine clay from northern British Columbia, an ingredient renowned for its abundance of beneficial minerals. It features a medium yet natural hold with a matte finish and a fresh and earthy scent from north-western Canada. The ingredients of this Glacial Clay pomade can help to promote healthy hair by moisturizing, nourishing and protecting throughout the day.”
As I mentioned in my previous post about Wise Men’s products, the Wise Clay Pomade has great hold but is a bit too much like hard work for him. So I was excited when they gave me the opportunity to try out the cream formula. The Clay Pomade is amazing if you are willing to put in the effort to work it through your hair or if you go for more of a textured look and needs more hold. In that case, they will probably love it.
It just didn’t really suit his needs. You need to really work it with your hands before using. Not unusual for a clay based hair product. But he prefers more of a quick rake of is hands through his hair.
Wise Simple & Natural Men’s Cream Pomade Review
Red Maple Cream Pomade in Reusable Glass Bottle 60 ml / 32 $ CAD (also available in a minimalist tube for $24)
“Red Maple Bark extract is a sustainable botanical extract from the Canadian Boreal Forest and is known for its collagen and elastin-boosting properties. Great for any hair type, this pomade offers a medium to strong hold with a light-shine finish and a woodsy, herbal scent reminiscent of the vast Canadian wilderness. Unlike most styling products, the ingredients of this Red Maple Bark cream pomade can help to promote healthy hair by moisturizing, nourishing and protecting throughout the day.”
The cream formula was always going to be more suited to him so it is unsurprising that he preferred it. A lighter finish but with less hold, the cream formula is more workable and natural looking. Wise Simple & Natural Men’s Cream Pomade has a slightly lighter scent than the clay but both are minimal once applied and have a herbal scent. You can simply rub the cream formula in your hands and run through your hair for a light hold with touch of shine.
Comparing Wise Simple & Natural Men’s Clay Pomade and Cream Pomade
He has a definite preference for the Wise Men’s Red Maple Cream Pomade. With longer hair, he doesn’t go for a fully textured look anyway and the cream formula is just less work. For someone who used body wash – shampoo combos before I met him, simple works. He is happy to use more natural products, but not at the expense of additional time in the bathroom. And let’s face it, I need him out ASAP so I can get ready!

I totally want to get these for hubby. He has ever used a clay mask before but as we are getting older I believe it’s an essential!
It is actually clay based hair cream, not a mask. But yes, masking is essential. I can usually get him to wear a sheet mask rather than messing around with mud masks.
I love the packaging of these products! It’s so nice to see the selection of men’s skin and hair care products growing lately. My husband used to steal my products. Now I find myself dipping into his!
