DAVIDsTEA recently released a new mini collection, The Freshly Squeezed collection. It contains three fruity teas perfect for summer and I knew I wanted to try Strawberry Lemonade first. It is one of my favourite flavours in general. I have tried several Strawberry Lemonade teas that were disappointing but always high hopes to find one I love. The other teas in the collection are Orange Passionfruit and Grapefruit Squeeze. So lots of citrus flavours going on.
DAVIDsTEA Strawberry Lemonade Ingredients and Steeping Instructions
Ingredients: Apple (apple, citric acid), hibiscus blossoms, blackberry leaves, candied papaya (papaya, sugar), lemongrass, beetroot, strawberries, marigold blossoms, natural strawberry and lemon flavouring.
Steeping Instructions: 1-2 Perfect Spoons per 16oz near boiling (194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃) water for 4-7 minutes. For iced, used 2-3 with 10oz water then pour over ice to make 16oz.
DAVIDsTEA Strawberry Lemonade Tea Review
I would usually complain about DAVIDsTEA’s overuse of apple but it brings an extra sweetness to the Strawberry Lemonade tea. It is nice to see natural rather than artificial flavouring too. The loose Strawberry Lemonade tea has a strong scent with sweet strawberries and tart lemon. It is more strawberry than lemon, but that tart lemon is definitely there.
A Perfect Spoon of DAVIDsTEA Strawberry Lemonade averages 5g. At $9.98 for 50g it costs around $1 per spoon or $2-3 for a large iced tea when made yourself.
The brewed tea has a bright red colour and a sweet lemonade scent. The colour most likely comes from the beetroot rather than any strawberries in the fruit infusion. The hibiscus does not oversteep as easily as in some of their other teas. The steeped tea has a sweet taste with more strawberry but a tart lemon undertone which doesn’t overpower. One of the better Strawberry Lemonade teas out there, DAVIDsTEA did really well on this one. It does need the extra spoon of loose tea to get full flavour without oversteeping though. It will be a summer staple for me.
I’m usually not one for fruity teas, but that sounds delicious.
