It feels a little strange posting snowy nails when we don’t have any snow, but I love blue and a snowy look is a must in the winter months.  These are both polishes I picked up on clearance over the holidays, so not sure how available they are but love the overall look even if the snow is very textured.

This look features L’oreal Wispy Clouds and China Glaze There’s Snow One Like You on the ring finger and freehand painted over Wispy Clouds.

The blue in L’oreal’s Wispy Clouds is a nice icy blue.  Not so cool that it gives me lobster coloured hands but wintery and cold looking, and a great base for my snowy manicure .  It has a great formula with a smooth brush that required no clean up.  The polish is fairly opaque for a more pastel colour and completely opaque in two coats.  Shown here without top coat since the snow looks best without it, it is fairly shiny but could do with a high shine top coat to make it last as it dulled quickly.

This is a super textured polish with some white hex pieces among the “bumpy snowy stuff”.  I used two coats over the blue and three on the ring finger to get full opacity.  It does take a while to dry and show the snowy effect so wait before applying the next coat to ensure you get the look you want.

The polish looks like it is a white polish with lots of bubbles so does not apply super smoothly even before it dries to a snowy finish.  Snow is rarely smooth looking anyway but takes a little working to smooth out any lines that appear from pulling on a wet coat with a second.

The snow does pull away from the tips but it is hard to wrap the tips with it given the texture.  If you want to do a look like this, you may want to wrap the tips with a white polish to give a more even look but it is less noticeable to the naked eye than in close up images.
