Botany Barn Review (Canadian Etsy Seller)

Botany Barn Canada Soaps and Lipbalms

With Etsy Made In Canada this weekend, it is a great time to check out some new local vendors.  I will be attending the Hamilton show but there are Etsy Made In Canada local shows all over the country.  The Made in Canada Hamilton show has some vendors from outside Hamilton but they are all in a fairly local area.  One of these is Botany Barn, an all natural skincare line from Waterloo, Ontario.  If you are in Hamilton, or Kitchener-Waterloo, you can save on shipping with pickup or delivery but shop at the Made In Canada show on Saturday at the Lincoln Alexander Centre and to get your hands on them right away.

Botany Barn makes handmade soaps, lip balms and other botanical skincare products.  All products are made from simple, natural ingredients using colours and scents that can be distilled from nature.  Botany Barn is also big on sustainability.  None of their soaps contain palm  oil and all come in recyclable packaging and are not wrapped in plastic.  They also have cute natural party / wedding favours of soaps and lip balms that you can customize.

I tried the gift set of three mini soaps which sells on Etsy for $12.  I got Honeybee, Carrots & Calendula plus Rosemary and Lavender plus some lip balms.

Botany Barn Canada’s Honeybee Soap

Botany Barn Canada Honeybee Soap

Honeybee soap from Botany Barn Canada has a refreshing citrus scent thanks to a generous helping of lemongrass essential oil.  It has a beige and black swirled design using activated charcoal and French yellow clay as all natural colourants.  Along with essential oils, it contains raw honey sourced from the Waterloo area, hence the Honeybee name.

Botany Barn Canada’s Carrots & Calendula Soap

Botany Barn Canada Carrots and Calendula Soap

Carrots & Calendula soap from Botany Barn Canada was an instant hit for me.  Like my teas, I am a sucker for anything with calendula petals.  Calendula helps soothe and nourish sensitive skin while the locally grown carrots are full of nutrients and give this soap a fun colour.  It has a slightly sweeter scent than the other soaps I tried and is the only one I tried with “bits” for those who hate that.

Botany Barn Canada’s Rosemary & Lavender Soap

Rosemary and Lavender soap from Botany Barn Canada is definitely more lavender than rosemary.  It has swirls of colours made possible by  spirulina powder, French green clay, Australian pink clay and Brazilian purple clay.  With six organic oils, this is perfect for using before bed to nourish the skin and help you sleep thanks to the lavender oil.

Botany Barn Canada’s Lip Balms

Botany Barn Canada Lip balms

I think most natural skincare lines sell lip balms.  But Botany Barn has some interesting scents.  You can get a pack of three for $10 or $4 each.  I have Lime in the Coconut which has a sweet lime scent and flavour.  Super moisturizing and it didn’t melt in my purse in the heat like some handmade lip balms.  It did soften but was still usable out of the bullet.  Going for the safe option, Vanilla Bean is one of those suitable for everyone.  I thought he would he would steal but he is after the lime one.

Botany Barn Canada Felted Soap

They also sell Chocolate Orange and Peppermint Mocha lip balms which I might pick up at the Made in Canada Show in Hamilton on Saturday along with some of these cute felted soaps.
