I am always on the hunt for that perfect green. One that doesn’t give me lobster hands and looks a bit more special. But at the same time, can still be used for leaves etc in nail art. I think I have found it in Alter Ego Balsam Beauty. I leafy green with a jelly filled with sparkle that is more noticeable in the bottle than on the nail. When I saw swatches of this, I thought it was darker than what I wanted for a nail art look so I was pretty happy when it appeared brighter on my nails.
“I was inspired by the fir trees the original owner of our house planted many years ago! Majestic, regal and hardy, I can always count on their vivid color to brighten a dreary winter day 🙂 During the summer they provide a safe haven for all kinds of birds-we have been blessed to have these magnificent trees providing us shelter! The deep green base tinged with darkest blue and dusted with fine copper makes this balsam beauty a must have for any collection!”
Like the mini bottle mentioned with Alter Ego Royal Prisoner of Love, the full size Balsam Beauty comes in their uniquely shaped bottle. The brush is the perfect size and flattens well to spread the jelly formula in thin coats to build opacity and sparkle.
Alter Ego Balsam Beauty Swatches
Like most jelly formulas, Alter Ego Balsam Beauty will tin a little at the tips. Shown here with three thin coats and one coat of Alter Ego She Shines top coat. Visible nail line was noticeable in bright lights but not under normal lighting.
The copper and holographic sparkle is more noticeable than shown in my pictures. Balsam Beauty is gorgeous in real life. But do give the bottle a good shake to loosen up the shimmer a while before applying.
- Base coat: CND Creative Play
