Essence recently added to their I <3 Trends collection with The Nudes. There are four to five polishes in the US/Canada release of The Nudes collection but sadly, my local Shoppers Drug Mart only had three left by the time I found them.
Unlike the regular Essence polishes, these are in plain round bottles with chunky caps, similar to the base/top coat from The Gel collection. While they look bigger than a regular Essence polish, The Nudes contain the same 0.27 fl oz/8ml as their regular polishes.
Essence The Nudes – I Nude It
I Nude It (02) is the lightest of The Nudes. A light nude/cream colour with a slight gold microshimmer that is sadly more noticeable in the bottle than on the nail. Many really light colours can look chalky but I Nude It does not suffer from that chalkyness, maybe due to the shimmer.
It is a little streaky, so while two coats is opaque enough, a third helps level out the polish. It shown above with two coats and you can see some of the streaks on the ring finger. It is a little too pale for me and brings out a lot of pink in my skintone but I do like the colour.
Essence The Nudes – I’m Lost In You
I’m Lost In You (03) was my least favourite of the three when I bought The Nudes but I really like it for a neutral. I have used it for several work appropriate nail days as it goes on like a dream. You could almost get away with one thick coat of I’m Lost In You but two thin coats works best. No streaking with this one and a great dry time too. This warm toned taupe just seems to work for me despite making me look more pink. I imagine it would look great on tanned skintones though.
Essence The Nudes – Nude Sweet Nude
Nude Sweet Nude (10) was my favourite of The Nudes when I bought these Essence polishes, and while it looks decent in the photo, the formula is a little difficult to work with so I use it less than I’m Lost In You. It is fairly opaque and thick which should be good, but it shows every imperfection and brush stroke. Make sure you let the first coat fully dry before attempting a second coat. But once you get the hang of applying it, this rose gold nude is a beautiful shiny colour. Pictured above with no top coat, you can see how shiny this metallic nude nail polish shows.
These Essence polishes are available at Shoppers Drug Mart and are priced at an amazing $2.49 each and like many Essence releases, are limited edition and the selection seems to vary a lot by store.
