Mark by Avon recently released a new set of lip paints in matte velvet and glossy vinyl formulas. It is nice to see some glossy shades after so many matte lips. The Mark by Avon Lip Pout collection includes four shades in the Vinyl formula and four shades in the Velvet formula. Both formulas promise colour more intense than lipstick, more saturated than gloss. They are made with vibrant, pure pigments plus a built-in primer guarantees a smooth, even application that keeps colour on lockdown.
The shades available are
- Shocking (Vinyl) – fushia pink
- Covet (Vinyl) – a dark aubergine/eggplant
- Cozy (Vinyl) – a nice classic pink
- Glamour (Vinyl) – cherry red leaning pink
- Quiet (Velvet) – beige nude
- Spark (Velvet) – a bright tomato red
- Fancy (Velvet) – purple based plum
- Fantasy (Velvet) – blue leaning purple

I generally do not go for lighter pinks like Cozy but it has a great formula and the perfect neutral colour for everyday wear. Glamour leans too bright for my skin tone while the Shocking is cute. Covet is a bit dark or summer for me while I am in the mood for brighter colours.
The Vinyl Lip Pout formula was quite surprising. They have great colour opacity in a glossy finish but are not overly tacky feeling on the lips. They are nor super long lasting, the shine had died down after about two hours and the colour after four. But most lip colours don’t last on me so you may get longer wear.

I have felt over the matte trend lately but I am loving these. Well, I am loving Fantasy and Quiet shades. That is not because of the formula of Fancy or Spark, just a colour preference. Quiet is a nice nude. It can lean a bit pale but great for an ombre matte colour. Fantasy surprised me. I would not usually go for a brighter blue leaning purple but the day I wore this so many people complemented the colour.
The formula is pretty good and I got about 3 hours before they faded. They are comfortable to wear and opaque enough that you do not need to layer it on and risk thick cakey lips.
The Lip Pout Lip Paints from Mark. by Avon are available now. They have a regular price of $12 each but as always, watch or special offers. You can order them online here in Vinyl or here in Velvet formulas. Or contact your local independent Avon representative.
