I recently received a #CNDRescueKit from CND Canada to help fix my weak nails and it included four nail polishes from the summer 2016 CND Vinylux Flirtation collection.  I loved the Spring 2015 collection and wear them often so was looking forward to these, especially Date Night as I have been looking for that perfect summer blue with a pop of colour without being too dark or bright and Date Night seemed to be perfect from the press images I had seen.

If you are not familiar with Vinylux, it promises 7-day, chip-resistant wear; fast-drying, 2-step application (colour and CND weekly topcoat), increased durability with natural light and brilliant shine that lasts.  CND Vinylux polishes are 7-Free and do not contain toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, phthalates (DBP), formaldehyde resin, xylene, or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK).

CND Vinylux – Be Demure – 2016 Flirtation Collection

This soft baby pink is the kind of colour I rarely wear.  Not that the colour doesn’t look good on me, I am just really fussy about pinks and tend to prefer brights over pale colours.  The formula on this is a little fussy.  Be Demure has a fairly thick consistency yet is quite sheer and streaky.  I found the best application was with two thin coats followed by a thick coat to level out the opacity and streaks – but let each layer dry first.  I used two regular coats on my pointer finger and you can see some of the streakyness in Be Demure.

CND Vinylux – Lavender Lace – 2016 Flirtation Collection

Lavender Lace is a fairly sheer lavender cream with pearl shimmer running through it.  The shimmer is more noticeable in the bottle than on the nail, especially in shade but does make the formula a little more forgiving than the cremes in the collection.  Shown with three coats of Lavender Lace with CND Weekly Topcoat in shade and natural sunlight.

Desert Poppy is the other non-creme in the Flirtation collection.  This bright coral with shimmer has a similar formula to Lavender Lace, it needed three thin coats for full opacity and appears more orange in sunlight compared to red-coral in normal lighting.  The first coat is very streaky but the third coat levels nicely.  As with the lavender, the shimmer is less noticeable on the nail compared to in the bottle but makes the formula more forgiving – which is good as it leans towards neon on my skintone.

Canada Day Nails CND Vinylux Desert Poppy

I actually wore Desert Poppy for Canada Day.  I had ordered some Maple Leaf vinyls from Born Pretty in May, but they are lost somewhere in transit and didn’t arrive in time, so I used this leaf stamp design instead as it was the closest I had.

CND Vinylux – Date Night – 2016 Flirtation Collection

Date Night is my favourite from the four CND Vinylux polishes I tried from the Flirtation collection.  This bright medium-blue is the most opaque of the four and was fully opaque with two regular coats.  The formula is fairly thick, like Be Demure but not as streaky and levels better.  Plus it has the best consistency of the ones I tried.  To me, this is the perfect summer blue, bright and deep without being neon or too dark.
