It is not all about the matte lips! With creamier and shimmery formulas finally hitting the shelves again, Avon has released their new Lip Glow glosses. They are formulated to have more colour, more shine and more moisturization while not being sticky. They do have some cream shades but I tried three of the shimmers, Lightburst, Amber and Aura.
Avon Lip Glow are made with Chia Seed Oil and Rose Hip Oil to be ultra shiny and put some moisture back into those lips. Let’s face it, our lips could do with a break from the more drying matte formulas.
Avon True Color Lip Glow in Amber
Amber is the shade I expected to like the most from the glosses. I have really pale lips so need a little more colour from a gloss. It doesn’t really have as much colour payoff as you would think from looking at it in the tube. Amber Lip Glow has a soft brownish pink glow and definitely more shimmer than the others I tried. It has golden and blue tones in the shimmer so works for various skin tones.
Avon True Color Lip Glow in Aura
Aura from the Avon Lip Glow collection is your typical gloss colour. A pale pink wash with a soft silvery shimmer. I need a little more colour on my pale lips but it is nice over lipstick.
Avon True Color Lip Glow in Lightburst
Lightburst Lip Glow from Avon is probably the one I will use the most. Not a huge surprise as I go for a nude lip most of the time. Certainly during the work day. It is a versatile nude with a golden shimmer. After trying Amber, I was quite surprised to see it had as much colour payoff as it doesn’t look as dark in the tube.
Avon Lip Glow Swatches – Lightburst, Amber & Aura
Swatches of Avon True Color Lip Glow in Lightburst, Amber and Aura. Shown with two coats of each. The formula does drag a little on the second coat. It is worse with Amber as it has chunkier glitter.
Overall, it does manage to stay shiny for a while without being sticky. That being said, it is also still wet for a while so does transfer. Most glosses do though so not a huge deal. Lightburst is definitely the one I will use the most. They take about 15 minutes to dry down to the point that they are not sticky.
Avon True Color Lip Glow glosses are regularly priced at $10 each and are available already. Contact your local Avon representative to order or shop online.
