CND Creative Play Shady Palms Swatches & Review

CND Creative Play Shady Palms from Sunset Bash Collection - Swatch in Artificial Light

CND Creative Play Shady Palms from Sunset Bash Collection - Bottle Shot

CND Creative Play Shady Palms is one of the creme polishes from the summer 2017 Sunset Bash collection. It is a soft pastel green like sea foam green.  It is the only polish of the cremes in the Sunset Bash collection that required three coats for pull opacity as it was a little streaky with two.  But two thicker coats may work fine since it is fairly quick drying.

CND Creative Play Shady Palms from Sunset Bash Collection - Open Bottle and Brush

As with all Creative Play polishes, Shady Palms comes in a 13.6ml round bottle with a medium sized brush.  The Creative Play advanced brush designed with nearly 400 bristle ends to allow for precision and smooth application. I like that it gives precision while not being as small as Essie’s brushes.  The micronized pigments deliver smooth, uniform application, high gloss, and richly saturated color.

Shady Palms looks similar in most lighting conditions, unlike many of the shades in the Sunset Bash collection.  Shown here with artificial lighting.

In natural shade, it is slightly more muted but still keeps that glossy sea foam green colour.

CND Creative Play Shady Palms from Sunset Bash Collection - Swatch - Sunlight Indoors

In sunlight while indoors with added artificial lighting, the glossy colour of CND Creative Play Shady Palms really shows.

CND Creative Play Shady Palms from Sunset Bash Collection - Swatch Evening Sunlight

Shown in evening sun, the colour looks deeper with a touch more yellow.  All swatches shown using CND Creative Play base and top coat with three coats of CND Creative Play Shady Palms colour coat.  Like many greens, it can make your skin tone look more red, but not quite the lobster hands of medium greens.  This did need three coats for full coverage but has good dry time and despite the pastel colour, does not look overly chalky.

Can You Stamp With CND Creative Play Shady Palms

Do They Stamp - CND Creative Play Teal The Wee Hours and Shady Palms

Given that it took three coats for full coverage, I almost skipped Shady Palms when testing the Sunset Bash collection for stamping.  However, it shows surprisingly well over black.  It is barely there over white but may look great as a muted stamping polish over darker greens and blues.  It is a little sheer, but I have seen mint stamping polishes suffer from the same level of opacity over black.
