Avon just released a new set of lip crayons. Unlike the many matte lip colours still filling the shelves, the Avon True Color Lip Crayons are moisturizing and have creamy formulas. You get the full coverage of a lipstick in an easy to use pencil crayon format. The colour applies smoothly and lasts.
They come in cream and shimmer finishes but both include Vitamin A and Shea Butter for a creamy formula. You can use them to line your lips before a matte lipstick to give a dose of moisture or build the colour for a lipstick.
Avon True Color Lip Crayons in Fairest Nude, Reddy For Me, Just Rosy, Rose Premier and Mauve Model
Swatches of Avon True Color Lip Crayons
I tried five of the twelve new shades of Avon True Color Lip Crayons. Fairest Nude, a beige nude shade. Reddy For Me, a red with pink shimmer. Just Rosy, a wearable rose pink colour. Pink Premier, a brighter pink and Mauve Model, a mauve-dark red cream. These all have sheer to medium formulas so swatches are shown with 3 heavy swipes of the lip crayon.
Fairest Nude manages that nude look without looking too dead. It does need more swipes of the lip crayon than the others to build the colour. With three swipes the colour is still a bit patchy on my arm but less noticeable on my lips. Personally, I find nudes like this hard to wear. I don’t have a lot of lip colour as a base for it so need a bit more ooompf.
Reddy For Me was the first of the shimmer formulas I tried from the Avon True Color Lip Crayon line. It has a lot more pigmentation than Fairest Nude. A nice wearable red with a pink and gold shimmer throughout. Shimmer is generally not my thing but this actually looks quite nice on and wears longer than the creams.
Of the two pinks I tried, Just Rosy is definitely my favourite. The colour is more wearable than the Barbie pink of Pink Premier and also has a better formula. It is less patchy and wears for a little longer than Pink Premier. Both are cream formulas but the difference is noticeable. Just Rosy glides on easier and feels more creamy. It does have more of a sheen to it than Pink Premier which dries slightly matte looking in comparison.
Finally, Mauve Mode.l. I didn’t think I would like this one as much as I do. It has a shimmer formula which is usually not my thing. But barely noticeable, just gives your lip a bit of shine.
Overall, I really like these. For $10 (full price, Avon often has special offers) they are really wearable and a nice formula.
If the shades shown above are not you, here is the full collection. I think I need to pick up Plum Perfect next time I shop.
As always, you can order these online or from your local independent Avon representative.
