Avon recently extended their True Color range with some shades that were previously available in other collections or lines. The reformulated new True Color collection promises fuss free, easy and fail free makeup that performs like it should. I have a few different products from the new collection to share with you and while I loved some more than others, they all lived up to their promise.
Avon True Color 8in1 Smoky Nights Eyeshadow Palette
Starting with one of the products that rarely wows me, I have been using the new True Color Smoky Nights eyeshadow palette a lot. The pigmentation on the colours is amazing for the drug store price tag of $15 for 8 shades. While I have only tried Smokey Nights, a mix of neutral shades like a pink and gold shimmer, it also has a mix of shades for every look. The 2017 spring release also includes Rock and Stone, a mix of blues, purples and neutrals plus a more neutral palette of pinks and browns named Nude Muse.
Smoky Night Swatches – True Color by Avon
Shown applied dry with no primer, the pigmentation on the Smoky Nights palette is amazing. Using an eyeshadow primer and/or applied wet, they are even more opaque and colorful. There is some fallout from the shimmer when applying so a good idea to do your eyeshadow first or keep a tissue handy to catch fallout when applying. The same is true of most shimmery shadows though.
Avon True Color Lipsticks
They also released a load of new shades of lipstick in the True Color formula which has a nourishing formula infused with jojoba oil, vitamin E, collagen and lanolin. Shown here in Peony Blush, Mellow Melon and Berry Sangria, they last for about 4-6 hours but with so many drying matte lipsticks on the market right now, have a dreamy formula that I can live with reapplying. At $10 each (regular price, they are often on sale) they wear better than many drug store lippies in the same price range.
Avon True Color Blushing Nude Be Blushed Stick – Coral Reef Nail Polish – Citrus Shine Glazewear
Pinks are hardly my go to colours but I was impressed with the Be Blushed Stick in a light Blushing Nude. It gives just that hint of colour for a natural blush and blends nicely over foundation while still showing under my powder. Personally, I go for more of a blushed look since I have a natural pink that I like to add back after full coverage but it is great for a neutral look.
Coral polishes are hard to photograph so excuse the coloring on my hands, I tried to get the nail colour as accurate as possible. Avon True Color Nail Polish in Coral Reef is opaque in two coats and unlike many similar shades, does not need a white base to show well. It lasted three days with minimal tipwear with base and top coat which is on par with most of the polishes I wear. Check back soon for swatches of the less summery shades!
The Citrus Shine Glazewear lip gloss was the product I liked least. The line comes with cremes, shimmers and sparkles like Citrus Shine and maybe I would have liked the creme formulas but the sparkle was just a bit too shiny and sticky for my preference.
