I know, I know, I am always super late posting these subscription boxes. Here is my September Birchbox. The theme this month was You’re Beautiful and celebrated five years of Birchbox.
Despite getting several types products I like, this box was not super exciting. I received a face mask, eyeliner, eyeshadow palette, eye cream and blowout spray.
This Cynthia Rowley liquid eyeliner came in dark grey which is an improvement on the bright blue one shown on my Birchbox page. It is decent, nothing special and the dark grey works well for days when I do not want a harsher black eyeliner. It is exclusive to Birchbox in Canada, and seems to be a full size sample which brings up the value of my box. The full size is advertised at $21.
I love face masks so was happy to see a sheet mask in my box. BioRepublic Green Tea Detox purifying sheet masks are advertised at a full size price of $14.50 but ordering a 3 pack from Birchbox is $21 so a value of $7 each. The mask was decent, large and wet so did not dry out while wearing it like many sheet masks.
This Pop Beauty trio in Sugar Plum was full size for the actual shadows but the full size palette is 40 shadows for $35 so a value of $2.63 for this. At that price, it is a bargain but I would have preferred other colours. The colours seem to fade quickly, even with primer which is unfortunate so I would not buy the full size.
100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream worked well. I would probably keep using my current eye cream since I have a large tube and will forget about this by the time it is done but for $26 full size, worth it. Nail Polish Canada sells this travel size for $11 but the value on the full size is worth $7.80.
I have not been a huge fan of any of the Parlor products Birchbox has sent me and this one was no exception. PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Smoothing Blowout Spray is decent, but I have several drug store brands that work just as well and do not make my hair greasy as quickly. The full size on this is $27 so this is worth about $5.50 – at that price I can get a full size of a drug store brand on sale/with coupon.
Total value of the box was just under $44. Not bad but not amazing either, especially as I would not repurchase most of them.
