belif oil control moisturizer fresh - review

If you have oily skin, you will know that a good moisturizer is hard to find.  To much moisture and you look greasy.  Not enough and you get oily to compensate.  I am so happy to have found one I love (at least for now, my skin is very seasonal) in belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh.  Seriously, the only thing I would change about it is the name because that is quite the mouthful so am sticking to belif Oil Control.

The belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh Promise

An oil-free moisturizer that controls oil, refines pores, and leaves skin hydrated and smooth. This formula is a unique blend of time-tested apothecary herbs, including rosehip, a powerful vitamin-C packed ingredient. The fresh, lightweight texture controls oil and refines pores while providing hydration for a smooth, supple, and fresh feel.

At $46 Canadian, belief’s Oil Control moisturizer is not super affordable.  However, I go through $10-20 moisturizers like crazy and end up giving them away as they just don’t work for me.  It has a lightweight formula so 125mls lasts.  I have been using this since the end of September and there is still lots in the bottle.  Nature Collection (the group that now sells belif, VDL, The Face Shop and other brands online) have regular promos too so you can probably stock up on a sale.

The cap does have a little lid but it slides off fairly easily so not sure how well it would travel.  Unless I am away for an extended period, I tend to put skincare into smaller bottles anyway so not a huge deal for me but something to be aware of if you do travel with your skincare.

Many moisturizers need a while for my skin to get used to them.  I am not the kind of person who can try skincare and review it the next day.  This is one of the few that I decided instantly that I loved it.  It dries down quickly so you can apply makeup and left my skin feeling moisturized but looking matte and not greasy.  belif Oil Control moisturizer has no parabens, sulfates, phthalates or dyes and fragrances so doesn’t bother the sensitive dry areas on my cheeks.  It also has enough moisture that I can use it all over my face and not just my oily t-zone.  I do use a hyaluronic acid serum before  using belief Oil Control though.

The packaging also promises that it tightens pores.  Personally, I have not found that it does.  I have large pores so I don’t expect a moisturizer to change that, but it doesn’t clog them up making them more noticeable which is all I ask for.  The instructions say to use morning and night. I find that I still need a night cream for that full dose of moisture but love how it makes my skin look during the day.

Moisturizers can be very much a personal choice in my experience.  I can use any face mask etc but when it comes to cleansers and moisturizers, my skin gets fussy.  But I loved belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh.
