Deciem The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution Review

If you have used any acne skin care or products targeted at teens, you have probably used some Salicylic Acid.  This BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) not only exfoliates but can penetrate deeper into the pores.  It dissolves oil buildup, helps regulate sebum production with regular use and leaves your skin clearer.  Use can also use it as a spot treatment on blemishes to help them heal more quickly.

My skin takes combination as a challenge, and I tend to break out on my t-zone while having really dry skin elsewhere.  So a product with Salicylic Acid is a must to stop breakouts.  I use a cleanser with some, but it is often not enough so I love The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% with Witch Hazel.  It is really affordable at $5.30 for 30ml and is one of the few that come in a smaller bottle too.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Hamamelis Virginiana Leaf Water, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Salicylic Acid, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Ethoxydiglycol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, 1,2-hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

How To Use Deciem The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

A few drops on a cotton pad morning and night to keep your skin blemish free and breakdown any oil clogging your pores.  As a spot treatment, you can put a drop on your finger and apply right to the blemish.

I have used other 2% Salicylic Acids that have left my skin feeling really tight or burning after use.  This is not the case with The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid.  Maybe it is the Witch Hazel mixture, but I have no issues using it.  The previous brand I tried was more gel like in formula.  This is water based and spreads easily on the skin.  Once absorbed, you can use other products without it balling up like many of the creams or gels do.

Since it is an acid, make sure you apply sunscreen after use, even on days you think you might not need it.  Any exfoliating acid will leave you skin more prone to sunburn.
