Revlon’s latest collection is a special one. They recently released a new HoloChrome collection with four holographic polishes and four chrome finish polishes. There are very few easily available holographic polishes so nice to see a whole collection in the drug store. Today I am sharing Galactic Pink. Like the rest of the collection, Galactic Pink is free from Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Camphor or Toluene and is a scattered holo.
As I mentioned in my reviews of Unicornicopia and Fairy Dust, your opinion of these holographic polishes will depend a lot on whether you usually buy indie polishes where you are likely to have more unique holos. But for someone who wants to shop in store, I am impressed with Revlon bringing a collection to the drug store. Despite wearing indie polish a fair amount, a number of people asked me about my nails while wearing this, and it was nice to be able to say “go buy it at Shoppers/Rexall”. I find that people’s eyes tend to glaze over when I say they have to buy it online or join a facebook group to get a certain shade.

Revlon Galactic Pink is quite light dependent, it can range from a dusty rose to a more lavender shade depending on lighting conditions. It is a scattered holo with a decent amount of holographic particles that show well even in indirect lighting. Three thin coats are needed for full opacity, as with the rest of the holos in the collection. But the formula dries quickly which helps with the third coat.
The formula is smooth with no pooling at the cuticles, so applies well. I have heard others mention that the Revlon HoloChrome polishes did not last on their nails but I had no chipping issues, but I do use a sticky base coat and generous top coat. I wore Fairy Dust and Unicornicopia for 3 days without any major tip wear. That is about the max most (non long wear) polishes last for me and it still looked good. I only had this on to swatch so not sure if it will last as long as the others.

I have to add the this is the first time applying a polish I exclaimed “wow, this is a really good formula!”
It went on so smooth, no pooling at cuticles (I now know what this is called now that I read your entry) and the dry finish was incredibly smooth and glossy – I didn’t feel the need for a top coat as compared to most polishes.
Colour spoke mauve under indoor light, only outside in bright natural light did I get pink at all (making me wonder why not call it galactic mauve).
I wear everything from Dior, Julep, Zoya and Essie, and honestly, this formula struck it our of the park compared to high end ones.
