Flexitol Heel Balm vs Heel Magic – Which Do You Need?

After a summer of sandals and pedis, stuffing my feet into boots and not worrying about as many pedicures in the cooler month often leaves my feet looking not their best.  But not as bad as my other half’s feet as he wears work boots all day and rarely sits down.   Flexitol Heel Balm has been a staple in our home for some time.  It is one of the rare things he find actually works on his gross calloused feet.  He soaks them in Epsom Salts (or a part of a bath bomb, which is how I got through so many).  Then slathers on some Flexitol Heel Balm almost every night.  I recently got the chance to try Flexitol Heel Magic, so how does it stack up and which do you need?

Flexitol Heel Balm Review

Flexitol Heel Balm is meant for really dry, cracked and rough feet.  It promises visible results in just one day.  On my feet, if they are particularly dry, this is true.  But then I can see a difference with any super moisturizing urea based product.  The true test is his feet and you can actually see the difference using this.  We previously used FootLogix which worked for him, but at $20+ a bottle that does not last as long as a tube of Flexitol Heel Balm which retails for around $12-15 depending on sales and stores.

It is a very thick cream and a little goes a long way.  Simply rub into problem areas then use the excess to moisturize your feet.  The 25% chemically synthesised Urea in a highly concentrated, moisturising and emollient base gets below the surface skin.  Helping your feet stay moisturized rather than provide short term visible looks too.

That being said, as much as he loves this, I find it can be a bit much when my feet are already looking decent. It takes a while to rub in and  I just don’t need that much moisture regularly.  I do still love to use it as an overnight moisturizer.  I slather it on and slip on a pair of EcoTools Spa Moisture Socks and let it sink in overnight.  It is not greasy, just quite heavy for regular use if you don’t need it.

So, what about Flexitol Heel Magic?  From the name, I thought that Heel Magic would be even more moisturizing than the Heel Balm.  It is very moisturizing but is more of a daily moisturizer to hydrate skin regularly than to fix really dry and cracked feet.

I love the chubby stick formula which glides on as it means I don’t need to touch his feet!  For me, Flexitol Heel Magic is enough to see visible results in a few days and they look great after one use.  It absorbs quicker than Heel Balm and is not as heavy feeling on the skin.  Made with Shea Butter and Olive Oil, it is paraben free and still has some urea for deep moisture too.  He prefers Heel Balm as he needs it but this tops up the moisture in the mornings when he doesn’t want to rub in Heel Balm before putting on socks and work boots.

Flexitol Heel Balm vs Heel Magic: Which Do You Need?

Honestly, it is a lot of personal preference.  If your feet are in really rough shape, especially if they have cracks, I would go for Heel Balm.  Just use it at night when you have time to let it sit.  If you just want to keep your feet looking their best between Pedicures, Heel Magic provides a good dose of moisture and the stick means it will never leak in your purse when travelling too.  Both are paraben free and suitable for diabetics.

My package of Heel Magic also included a coupon showing their other products.  Since both of Flexitol products have been really effective for us, I will be using it to try their Hand Balm.  My hands get so dry, so I have used Heel Balm on them!  Plus, their Nail Revitalizer Gel looks interesting but does not seem to be sold at Walmart so might have to get that direct from FarleyCo as I have not seen it at my local Rexall or Shoppers Drug Mart stores who carry it in select stores only.
