Trying Beyond The Nail Ahead of Etsy Made In Canada Mississauga 2017

Beyond The Nail Unicorn Nails - supplies

I was lucky enough to get to try some of the Beyond The Nail polishes that will be available at the Mississauga Etsy Made In Canada show this weekend.  I find handmade polishes at craft shows can be a little hit and miss.  Some are outstanding, usually the ones that come from straight polish / nail art sellers like Beyond The Nail.  While others see polish flying off the tables and think I can do that and you get boring colours or chalky polish.  The ladies behind Beyond The Nail include a fellow nail blogger and Canadian Beauty Bloggers’ Network member, Maddy of Spilled Polish so every polish sold is something she would actually use.  Maddy and Krystyn chose the polishes for me and I love all three (although I think Maddy probably knows I have a fondness for purples and blues so…)

I mean, how can you not love a polish called Flowing Unicorn Mane?  This gorgeous subtle holographic pastel purple was released as part of the Mystical Dreams Spring Collection.  It is subtle enough that it looks like a light purple with a hint of shimmer in most lights but sunlight brings out the beautiful subtle holographic side that (quietly) screams unicorns.  It has an almost crelly formula with the opacity of a creme.  Applies like a dream (unlike my topcoat clearly) and dries quickly.

Beyond The Nail Flowing Unicorn Mane - Starburst Stencils

I tried it with their Starburst nail stencils sponging on Space Cadet and a little Oh Snap! The stencils are perfect for nail art.  I hate those ones that are so sticky they pull even day old polish.  These stick well but not so much you can’t move them around if needed.  Always a good idea to get rid of some of the stickiness before using any stencil though!  Shown with two coats of Beyond The Nail Flowing Unicorn.

Beyond The Nail Oh Snap!

Beyond The Nail Oh Snap Swatches - Flakies

Go Flake Yourself!  Seriously, that is the Beyond The Nail collection this stunner comes from.  Oh Snap! is a gorgeous teal jelly full of flakies.  It is opaque enough in two coats but a third adds depth and more flakies.  I love teals and this one is beautiful.  This shot doesn’t show the full shine of it, but you can see the subtle holographic sparkle mixed with the flakies to make this stunning in sunlight.  It has great coverage for a jelly and blue-greens are more likely to stain so use a base coat!

Last but not least, Beyond The Nail Space Cadet.  The holo is strong in this one.  This purple has an amazing linear holographic sparkle to it.  In the shade, it looks indigo with a light shimmer but go out in the sun or catch it in the light and wow.  I mean I love the colour inside too where it leans a bit darker than in sun but this jelly is so opaque, applies so smoothly and even better – removes easily!  I wore this for a few days with no staining or chipping which is great given the amount of holo and blue base.
