I am ridiculously behind in sharing tea reviews so expect a few overdue ones over the next few weeks. After being sick and not being able to actually taste teas then catching up on work after the time off from being sick and caring for Izzy in her final weeks life has been crazy. Today, I am sharing a subscription box out of the UK. Normally, I try to keep my subs to Canadian ones but this is cheap enough even with shipping that it rivals the local ones.
The True Tea Club charges £10 per month with £3.50 international shipping, around $23 Canadian at our current terrible exchange rate and you get four packs of tea with 10 cups (not mugs) per pack. As with most boxes, subscribe for 3-12 months and save on the monthly cost. Or keep a monthly subscription and pause it as needed. The nice thing about this one is that they will customize your experience if you have allergies, want vegan teas or just prefer not to have certain types. For those who prefer the lower caffeine teas or hate hibiscus – this is amazing!
The True Tea Club Subscription – What’s In The Box?
Starting with the fact that box is packaged to actually fit in a mailbox. This is a huge plus for me as my new mail carrier seems to resent my mail volume and takes anything too big for my box to the post office even when I am home. The slim box is well packaged and only took a week to reach Canada from the UK.
The basic subscription includes four teas which they say will make 40 cups. I prefer most of my teas on the stronger side and use huge mugs so in terms most Canadians will understand, the packets have 2-3 DAVIDsTEA Perfect Spoons of tea. Enough to try large mugs hot and iced to see if you like them. One of my peeves with many sampler boxes is that you can fall in love with a tea but they only make a limited amount for that box. With True Tea Club you can shop the teas if you like them. Most of the teas are £6.25 for 50g or £12 or 100g.
They also include a handy temperature chart so you know how hot and how long to brew the teas along with a few tea bags for on the go steeping or for those who don’t have a cupboard full of infusers.

Vanilla Cupcake Rooibos – The True Tea Club March Subscription Box Tea
I seem to be on a rooibos kick lately. So many dessert teas in my last week of teas. Generally, I find vanilla teas a little too perfumey and not cakey enough but that was not the case with Vanilla Cupcake from The True Tea Club. It really does taste like the cupcakes from the local bakery. The small banana chips give it a nice hint of natural sweetness without overpowering the cupcakey taste and you know that cornflower petals make me love a tea…
Ingredients: Rooibos, Orange Peel, Banana Chips (Banana, Coconut Oil, Cane Sugar, Honey), Papaya Strips, Rose Petals, Natural Flavoring, Cornflower Petals, Marigold Petals.
Earl Grey Rebel – The True Tea Club March Subscription Box Tea
It was only fitting that a tea box from the UK had an Earl Grey for a London Fog tea latte! The True Tea Club’s Earl Grey Rebel adds a little punch to theirs with orange and of course, blue cornflower petals. It is like they know me… The bergamot was fairly strong but the orange leveled out the flavour for a great cuppa.

Rainbow Chaser – The True Tea Club March Subscription Box Tea
This was the first tea I tried from the box, with a name like Rainbow Chaser, how can you not love it? The True Tea Club describes Rainbow Chaser as a magical concoction of apple pieces, blackberry leaves, peppermint and orange peel. This herbal tea has a lot going on but it works and is so pretty and colourful. Because you know, I prefer to look at my tea than drink it sometimes. I may or may not use tea pictures as my screensaver! Minty yet fruity I loved this one. They got me with the cornflower again!
Ingredients: Apple Pieces, Blackberry Leaves, Sultanas, Orange Peel Safflower, Peppermint, Lemon-myrtle, Lemon Peel, Stinging Nettle Leaves, Freeze-dried Strawberry pieces, Blue Cornflower Blossoms, Marigold Blossoms and Rose Petals. (Vegan Friendly)
Mighty Mango – The True Tea Club March Subscription Box Tea
No cornflowers in this one! The True Tea Club Mighty Mango is a green tea with mango. While I like straight green teas, he needs fruit in them to drink them so this one was gone before I got to try it. So I am guessing it was good because he usually drinks one cup and then tries something else.
Ingredients: Green Tea, Flavoring, Sunflower Blosssoms (Vegan Friendly)
Overall, I love that it had a good mix of different teas and while I didn’t try Mighty Mango, all teas that I would like. Nothing worse than getting a subscription box of teas that just do not see overly appealing.
