Maybelline Color Show in Bold Gold was my main gold stamping polish for so long, until I couldn’t find it anywhere after using a whole bottle.  So I bought Mundo de Unas, because a good gold is much needed when stamping and many are too glittery and do not show well.  Wandering around Dollar Tree killing time and checking for blog props (see my recent post on affordable ones from dollar stores) I may have actually squealed out loud when I saw a basket full of Maybelline Color Show polishes and I grabbed the last gold one from the display.

I had bought the Born Pretty one knowing my bottle of Bold Gold was coming to an end.  Not loving it, I tried Rica’s The Golden Egg because another blogger recommended it.  It is glittery which is nice with holo but is quite thin and doesn’t show well.  So I ordered my first lot of Mundo de Unas stamping polishes.  You know by how often I use them that I love them, but the gold was always a little too yellow for me.  Over black, this isn’t a huge issue but it looks strange over cool toned colours.  So Maybelline Bold Gold… my perfect gold.  Not too yellow but gold enough to show.

Since Bold Gold is not a stamping polish, the dry time is a bit different but look at how well it shows.  Such clean lines (apart from where it didn’t transfer well – more because I tried taking a photo of it on the stamper than a formula issue).  Mundo de Unas Gold is definitely my next fave.  It always shows well over all colours.  They have a light gold that I will add to my next order as it took me a year to find Bold Gold.  Lots of stalking of Dollar Tree in my future!

Born Pretty’s 5ml gold is also more yellow in tone and glittery so not as good coverage while Rica’s has even less coverage but a cooler tone.  I know that Born Pretty does carry a few different gold stamping polishes.  This is only the small yellow gold glittery 5ml bottles.  They have a 15ml one that has a more matte formula.

Overall, Maybelline Bold Gold will be the polish I reach for when stamping, and you can see why in the swatches!

  1. I have always used China Glaze 2030 for my gold stamping and I love it. I still have a ton left but if I ever run out this post will be super helpful!

  2. So impressive considering it’s not even a stamping polish! I like that it’s not a very yellow gold either.
