Avon Nailwear Pro+ Green Sheen & Gold Dust Swatch & Review

As promised, the nail polishes included in the Mega Metals collection from Avon I reviewed last week.  The collection includes two beautiful metallic polishes from the Nailwear Pro+ line.  Choose between Gold Dust or Green Sheen – or just get them both.

Both have great opacity, important for metallics to cut down on brush strokes.  They have the typical length medium Avon Nailwear Pro+ brushes.  I think polishes like these can benefit from a shorter wide brush so you get most of your nail in one stroke but you can’t have everything.  Both are fairly muted and not in your face colours.  While perfect shades for fall they would work year round.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Green Sheen Nail Polish

Green Sheen is not like any polish I own.  It is almost silver with a sage-green colour.  I left my ring finger with just one coat to show you the opacity of the polish.  With a thicker coat, it would probably be fine with one coat.  You do see the metallic sparkle dust to it and lighting is everything with Green Sheen.  In some lights it is a dark pewter-green, in others it appears almost silver with no green.

Wear time with Green Sheen is not as good as some of the other Nailwear Pro+ polishes I have tried, but that is true for most metallic polishes.  It lasted about 2-3 days before showing wear and a small chip.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Gold Dust Nail Polish

Slightly less opaque than Green Sheen, Avon’s Nailwear Pro+ in Gold Dust suffers slightly more from brush strokes too.  I do like the tone of the gold though.  I find that many gold polishes, especially ones released around the holidays are too yellow and this has a much cooler gold tone to it.  Still definitely gold, but not like a cheap gold ring yellow gold.

I tried them both as stamping polishes and while Green Sheen showed over very pale colours, they need a thicker coat than stamping allows for to fully show their colours.  They would probably be great for nailart where you can paint them on with a smaller brush though.
