DAVIDsTEA Oh Canada! Tea Review

With Canada Day just a few days away, I couldn’t not share Oh Canada! tea from DAVIDsTEA today.  I mean, it has maple leaf sprinkles, so who cares what it tastes like, you have to buy it!

DavidsTea oh Canada Tea

This sweet Rooibos tea has hints of caramel and maple syrup to give it that sweet taste of maple syrup over pancakes, the Ex and everything else oh so Canadian.  My boyfriend always tells me I will never be a full Canadian because I don’t soak my pancakes in maple syrup but this tea is just the right amount of sweetness and maple – without cleaning up the sticky syrup after!

DAVIDsTEA Oh Canada! Ingredients & Steeping Instructions

Ingredients: Red and green rooibos, honeybush, caramel (condensed milk, sugar, glucose syrup, butter, sorbitol, mono and diglycerides), toffee (sugar, butter, almonds, milk chocolate, soy lecithin, milk, salt, vanilla, artificial flavouring), candy leaves

Steeping Instructions: 1-2 perfect spoons per 16oz near boiling (194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃) water for 4-7 minutes.  Use 10oz with the same amount of loose tea for an iced tea.

Between the toffee, caramel and maple flavouring, no one would say Oh Canada! tea is good for you but unless you sweeten it (not needed) or make a latte, it is surprisingly still 0 calories and caffeine free. The chunks of toffee are smaller than they appear in the advertised image of this tea, but the flavour is definitely still there.

DavidsTea oh Canada Tea Latte

Of course, I love lattes with rooibos teas so my cup of Oh Canada! was a latte.  The milk helps cut down on the sweetness of the tea and well any excuse for a tea latte.  He tried it iced and was not a huge fan, but enjoyed it hot and as a latte.

Because you can never have enough sprinkles, I added some on top of my latte, just to make it that little bit more Canadian.  They have a mapley taste themselves.  Not sure if they are flavoured or just absorbed it from the tea, but I may have snacked on one or two while waiting for the tea to steep, because eating maple leaf candies makes me more Canadian than eating pancakes with syrup?
