Steel City Reflections Mary Sanderson Swatch - Swatches Natural Light

I reviewed Winifred Sanderson, one of the sister polishes to Mary Sanderson a while back.  It is part of a trio by Steel City Reflections, a local Hamilton based indie nail polish company.  Now I have Mary Sanderson for you.  It is described as a blood red holo polish with larger burnt orange holo glitter.

Against my skin tone, I find it leans a bit more purple-red than blood red but still a beautiful colour and not as purple as the final sister, Sarah Sanderson.  I will have Sarah swatches for you soon, it is worth waiting for!

Steel City Reflections Mary Sanderson Swatch - Bottle Brush

All three of the Sanderson sisters have decent sized brushes that fan out well with no ragged edges.  Not always the case for the smaller indie companies so nice to see.  The larger burnt orange holo glitter does tend to settle a lot, so an hour or so before using Mary Sanderson, I shake it really well and then leave it for a while for air bubbles to settle.

While this is beautiful in any light, it has a beautiful shift in sunlight, especially when the light hits the larger holo glitter.  It has a decent amount of holo base, not completely concentrated, but not just scattered across the nail either.  It takes a far amount of light for the holo to show in the burnt orange glitter, in most light it leans gold to orange.

Steel City Reflections Mary Sanderson Swatch - Artificial Lighting

In artificial light, the holo is not as obvious in the larger glitter, especially if there is any of the base over the glitter.  The holo shift is gorgeous though and shows really well in both artificial light and natural light.

Mary Sanderson, like the rest of the Sanderson Sisters, is no longer available from Steel City Reflections’ online store but they did re-release it recently so you never know if it will show up again.

    1. This is the one I thought I would like the least from the trio, but it was almost the same price to buy the two separately. I am so glad I bought it as it is stunning in person.

    1. She makes some beautiful polishes (and she lives 10 mins from me, so its good to support a local business too)

  8. I love the mix of purple with the bronzed glitters! The sunlight shot is gorgeous!

  9. I always get sad when the large glitters sink. I try to suck it up and just keep it upside down to help disperse the glitter a bit. I’ve not heard of this brand before. Definitely going to look into them.

  10. This is such a beautiful jelly! I get really frustrated when the large glitters sink and you have to shake and fish for them
