Zakia's Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask Powder Review

Zakia's Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask Powder Review

I love face masks, I have quite a few different ones sitting here waiting to be tried, but when Zakia’s Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask Powder arrived in the mail, I couldn’t wait to try it.

Zakia’s Morocco promises that their Moroccan Ghassoul Clay is a natural and organic clay from deep inside the Ancient Atlas Mountains of Morocco.  This clay is the perfect skin treatment for cleaning, detoxifying, toning and rejuvenating. Ghassoul clay’s most impressive properties in skin improvement are its capacity of absorption and adsorption due to its high level of ion exchange.

Ghassoul is a mineral rich, light brown clay that blends extremely well with water making its application to the face and skin a smooth and delightful experience. Use on skin and hair – it even makes for a fabulous shampoo; mix a small amount of powder in your favorite shampoo – wash and rinse. Super cleansing!

Zakia's Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask Powder Review

I have not tried it as a hair mask yet (but I will, nothing worse than sweaty hair on hot & humid days leaving your scalp feel ewwww) but I have tried it as a face mask.  The instructions say to mix it 1 part Zakia’s Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Powder to five parts water.  Personally I found this a little too runny for my liking.  They promise that it will do the job, but I mixed in a bit more powder to make it thicker and more like the consistency of masks I am used to wearing.

Zakia's Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask Powder Review

I LOVE this clay mask.  You leave it on for 10 minutes when it has started to dry but not quite dry and rinse it off.  It was really gentle on my skin.  I find some detoxifying masks to tingle or even sting, but that was not the case with Zakia’s Moroccan Ghassoul Clay Mask.  There was a little redness after rinsing, but it went away in under 5 minutes after applying moisturizer.  I have tried so many masks that seem to feel the need to burn those impurities away, but Zakia’s was so gentle.

My skin felt amazing too.  My forehead tends to be quite oily, even after cleansing and this clay mask left it mattified yet supple and somehow brighter.  Plus it stayed mattified for hours, usually I would have to blot some oil much earlier in the day.  My makeup looked great!  I only used about a tablespoon of the powder for my face so the 8 oz jar will go a long way.  At less than $20 per jar, you will get lots of uses and it is a good deal too.
