DAVIDsTEA Chai Collection & Glass Latte Mugs Are Back!

DavidsTea Fall 2017 Chai Collection Teas - White Chocolate Chai - Smores Chai - Pumpkin Chai

I was not that excited by the Chai Collection that hits DAVIDsTEA stores today.  I am fussy about chai as I am not the biggest fan of cinnamon but then I heard latte mugs are making a comeback.  There may have been some actual squealing when I saw the double walled latte mugs online!  While everyone else is oohing over the new raccoon Nordic, I am stocking up on latte mugs!  But there are new teas, so let’s start with those first!

DAVIDsTEA Chai Collection Teas: Pumpkin Chai

Pumpkin Chai has actually been available for a little longer but is listed as a part of the collection.  I don’t think I tried the old one to compare but many tea friends are saying it is not the same taste this year.  A sweet black tea spiced with caramel, pumpkin candies, cinnamon and cloves.

DAVIDsTEA Pumpkin Chai Tea - Chai Collection Fall 2017

The ingredients are cut off online as usual, but the ones I can see are: Black tea, cinnamon, cloves, caramel (milk, sugar, glucose syrup, butter, sorbitol, mono and diglycerides), carrot, lemon peel, pumpkin candies (sugar, rice flour, cottonseed oil, soybean oil, corn starch, gum arabic, cellulose gum, yellow 6, confectioner (sugar?)

At $7.98 for 50g, this is one of the more affordable teas.  Steeping time is 4-7 minutes in near boiling (194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃) water.

DAVIDsTEA Chai Collection Teas: White Chocolate Chai

White Chocolate Chai is the only one I may try.  But it is just personal preference on teas and nothing against the collection itself.  DAVIDsTEA promises  a balance of creamy sweetness and warming spices, making this black tea blend the perfect white chocolate chai.

Ingredients:  Black tea, ginger, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, white chocolate curls (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, whey powder, lactose, soy lecithin, natural vanilla), cardamom, cloves, cocoa powder, stevia extract, natural and artificial white chocolate flavouring.

At $8.98 for 50g this costs a little more than pumpkin chai, but you would expect it to with chocolate.  Steeping time is 4-7 minutes in near boiling (194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃) water.

DAVIDsTEA Chai Collection Teas: S’mores Chai

I am torn on S’mores Chai as it is a pu’erh.  I like a good pu’erh but this is not calling my name.  DAVIDsTEA promises a tempting pu’erh bursting with toasted marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate.  Maybe it is just the cinnamon putting me off, I might get a couple of perfect spoons of it to try.  He will like it anyway.

The ingredients are once again cut off.  A good thing that a website update is supposed to be coming.  Maybe we will actually be able to see all ingredients in a tea?  Pu’erh tea, brittle pieces (sugar, hazelnut, invert sugar), cinnamon, sugar, marshmallow (sugar, corn syrup, modified cornstarch, gelatin, sodium hexametaphosphate, natural and artificial flavour, blue 1), chocolate chips (cane sugar, cocoa liquor, cocoa…

Again, $8.98 for 50g with S’mores Chai.  Steeping time is 4-7 minutes in near boiling (194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃) water.

New and Returning Latte Mugs!!

DAVIDsTEA Double Wall Latte Mug Back For Fall 2017 Chai Collection

Every so often I tweet DAVIDsTEA asking them to bring back this mug.  The Double Wall Glass Latte Mug is a fan fave and one sought after in trading groups so amazing to see it back.  I was not planning a trip to DAVIDsTEA today but this mug needs to be mine.  I had two but one broke in the sink and the other was a casualty when we moved.  The gently angled sides help retain heat, so your tea stays nice and warm to the last sip and 18oz is perfect for a latte!  I do wish is was as big as the old 24oz ones though, that thing was a beast!

Latte Mugs From DAVIDsTEA Chai Collection 2017

If the glass ones are anything like the old ones, they are quite fragile.  If you prefer something a little more durable they also have two new 18oz ceramic latte mugs with a soft finish. Available in Charcoal or Beetroot they are handwash only (best with all DAVIDsTEA mugs) and not dishwasher safe so no warming up that huge tea!

  1. I have tried and liked the pumpkin chai before – I haven’t tried it this year to compare tastes.. The others sound good to me too – I am eyeing the white chocolate chai

    1. There is supposed to be another pumpkin tea coming too

  2. I tried the S’Mores Chai a week ago and loved it! It tastes exactly like a s’mores, but without the calories! If you’re not a fan of cinnamon, I’d skip it. It’s not heavy on the cinnamon to me, but a little more cinnamon-y than a graham cracker is.
