Oh Advent Calendar time! After getting several last year, I only picked up the DAVIDsTEA one this year. It was hard to keep up with blogging them last year. Plus, I felt I had a lot of the beauty samples included in the calendars anyway.
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 1 – Snow Day
I recently picked up a tin of Snow Day so it is already a favourite and a great way to start the Advent Calendar. This one is an all natural mint tisane with cocoa nibs and sprinkles that is really minty and amazing as a latte. Mix it with hot chocolate (the tea or actual hot chocolate) to change it up.
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 2 – Jumpy Monkey
Jumpy Monkey is a rich yerba mate blend with coffee beans, cocoa nibs and white chocolate. Usually I would be all over chocolate teas but the coffee in this just makes me dislike it. I have tried it before so my sample sat untouched and will go as an extra in a future tea trade.
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 3 – Genmaicha
Genmaicha is steamed green tea from Japan, roasted and popped rice. DAVIDsTea is not my favourite genmaicha tea but it is decent. The smaller amount of green tea in this means it doesn’t suffer from too much bitterness if you oversteep it by a little too. Great for this time of the year as life is hectic!
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 4 – Serenity Now
We all need some serenity at this time of year and I haven’t tried this one recently. I am pretty sure it wasn’t even organic last time I had it. This soothing blend of lavender, strawberry and hibiscus is a one-way ticket to your happy place. The hibiscus oversteeps quickly but if steeped right, this is delicious and I will probably pick up a small amount for the future.
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 5 – Coffee Cake
I wasn’t a huge fan of the sachet I tried of this when it was first released so this went to him. It is a black tea with candied fruit and pineapple. It also came with a $5 coupon towards a tea I love from the calendar so that was my gift for today.
DAVIDsTEA 2016 Advent Calendar Day 6 – Apple Cider
This seems the same as the old Sweet Apple Cider. It is nice to see them using apple in a tea that is actually apple themed and this is pretty good when brewed correctly. It gets a fake candy apple taste if brewed too long so watch it and taste to get the perfect taste.
