Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint 2016 Tea Review - Loose Tea

Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint 2016 Tea Review

While fall may mean Pumpkin Spice Latte everything, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without lots of chocolate and peppermint.  My favourite tea from Teavana is back which means lots and lots of White Chocolate Peppermint tea.  Well lots of chocolate and peppermint everything, but that is another story.

Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint Ingredients & Steeping Instructions

Steeping Instructions: 1.5 Perfectea Scoops per 8oz water – near boiling (205F) for 5 minutes

Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint 2016 - 50g Tea

Teavana claim that 2oz is enough for 15-20 cups.  They drink some weak tea!  I don’t have a Teavana Perfectea scoop, but 50g didn’t get me 6 full scoops of a DAVIDsTEA Perfect Spoon, so 5 heaped ones.  I realize that is meant for 16oz cups, but we are still walking 10-12 rather than 15-20.

Out of the bag, it smells strongly of peppermint, but is not as minty tasting as it smells.  It has more of a dessert taste than pure chocolate too, but you can definitely tell it is white chocolate.  The rooibos is fairly light, more of a background taste.  I made a pot of this for some guests and they couldn’t even tell it was actually tea.  They knew it wasn’t a hot chocolate either, but it wasn’t completely tea like either.

Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint 2016 Tea

Teavana’s White Chocolate Peppermint tea (2016 blend) has large pieces of white chocolate pieces.  If you taste one, they must be peppermint infused because they taste minty.  There is no peppermint tea in the mix, just rooibos.  There are also cocoa nibs in the mix, they are not milk/dark chocolate pieces and do not melt as easily as the white chocolate peppermint pieces.

Since you so want the chocolate to melt and infuse in the water, this one is better brewed in a steeper or infuser basket than sachets, bags or a small infuser.

Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint 2016 Tea Latte

I wanted to add candy cane sprinkles to my White Chocolate Peppermint latte, but it was not happening.  I made many lattes out of this last year but they seem to have changed the formula slightly as the foamed milk just fizzles away.  You can see it bubbling a little at the front of the mug.  In the time it took me to snap a photo, there was half the foam.  It doesn’t curdle the milk, just won’t let it stay foamed.  Whipped cream out of a can seems to sit on it fine, but I find adding a little milk first helps get rid of the fizz.
