On my recent trip to DavidsTea to pick up more Cotton Candy tea, the tea guide was measuring out some Magic Dragon for the customer in front of me which smelled delicious.  The tea guide mentioned it was her favourite tea (I think they say that about all of them) so I had to add some to my order to try it out.  Magic Dragon is a herbal tea described as a tangy tropical blend of fruit that is bright, flamboyant and good for you.

Magic Dragon Ingredients and Steeping Instructions

Ingredients: Apple, rosehips, hibiscus, sweet blackberry leaves, dragonfruit, cornflower petals, natural dragon fruit flavouring.

DavidsTea, why oh why are you so obsessed with apple.  Is it because it is heavier and bulks up the tea?  They all seem to have apple lately.  It actually tastes quite good with this mix but still.  Magic Dragon is a nice mix of the tart but bubble-gummy flavour of dragonfruit with a lingering fruity taste but did need some sweetening to bring out the flavour.

Steeping Instructions: 1-2 perfect spoons per 16 oz water (10 oz for iced) at 194℉ – 203℉ or 90℃ – 95℃.  Steep for 4-7 minutes.  I have only had this iced and as a tea pop as the tea guide recommended it as a tea pop but I can’t imagine it being great hot.

I was surprised that the tea guide recommended Magic Dragon as a tea pop since they no longer make tea pops in store.  I carbonated some water in my sodastream but it had a bit of a dry taste until I sweetened the tea.  Don’t steep it too long or the hibiscus takes over and it is too tart, especially as an iced tea.  Not sure if I would buy this one again, it was refreshing but there are others we both prefer.
