While I love plums and purples for nail polish, I tend to look like someone punched me in the face if I use similar colours for eyeshadow.  Plums and purples are also not super work appropriate so budget options are great as I take it off and reapply a lot.

Plum Eyeshadow

Wet n Wild’s Petal Pushers is a great start for purples and plum eyeshadow at under $5.  It makes a purple smoky eye easy with instructions for applying each colour.  There is a little fallout from the glittery shades but that happens even with expensive shadows.  The dual ended applicator includes a sponge and brush which are fairly useless.

Shown above over Essence I Love Stage eyeshadow primer, applied with a sponge applicator.

Plum Nail Polish

The darker more purple shade is Essence Amazed By You and the pinker shade is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Pep-Plum.  While Amazed By You is very similar in the bottle, Pep-Plum is much pinker and lighter than it appears in the bottle.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Pep-Plum has an almost crelly formula and dries with a great shine.  The first coat is very streaky but it levels well with the second coat.  It is shown above with no top coat.

Essence Amazed By You is from their latest Essence The Gel collection.  I already posted about Amazed By You here and the picture is above so I won’t bore you with a long description.

I don’t think I have any truly plum shades in my affordable nail polish collection, they all lean too pink or too purple.  The closest would be Essie Bahama Mama or Zoya Toni but both are out of the affordable range.

Plum Lipstick

Maybelline Wine And Forever Plum Lipstick

Maybelline’s Superstay 14hr wear in Wine & Forever is a deep plum colour that has some staying power.  While this is a darker plum, it does not look too vampy on my pale skin and actually lasts, not 14 hours, but it lasts longer than most lipsticks on me.
