ipsy august 2015 unboxing

I know, I know, I already have my September ipsy bag photographed for an unboxing (unbagging – whatever) so it is about time I got my August subscriptions up.  This ipsy bag was probably the worst of the ones I have received.  The preview for ipsy’s August Prep School bag showed Trust Fund nail polish, Batiste dry shampoo, Tarte lip gloss and more great things and ipsy seemed to choose the five I need/dislike the most.

Eco-beauty Good Night Night Cream Ipsy August 2015

Ipsy does love their moisturizer samples, and I received two in August.  This was the better of the two  Eco-beauty Good Night night cream was at least a decent sized sample with a resealable lid.  Works decently, but nothing special about this one.

This highly natural La Fresh Eco-Beauty Good Night. Night Cream provides super hydration and restores your skin making it visibly smoother and plumper. It will also rescue your skin from fine wrinkles on the forehead and crow’s feet around your eyes. Say bye-bye to damaging elements that age your skin and say hello to recovered, recharged, and youthful!

Divine Skin Hydrator Ipsy August 2015

I think I was put off by the font alone on this one.  Albertini’s Divine Skin Hydrator just looks like something you would see in the dollar store.  Even rinsing in the shower after using it, it felt sticky on my skin and no more moisturized than using a decent moisturizing bodywash.

Use this hydrator and your skin will feel smoother and softer immediately. Always apply to wet skin. This all over in-shower body moisturizer, “conditions your body like you condition your hair”. It’s also unscented so it rehydrates skin without any irritation from fragrance. Holds moisture in your skin for 24 hours.

Doll 10 Cream Blush Ipsy August 2015

Doll 10 HydraGel Blush in Flirt was my “featured item” from their preview, and the one I wanted the least.  It is creamy and buildable and does not shift your foundation while lasting all day, but despite not finding anything wrong with it, I still have others I prefer.

HydraGel is a revolutionary formula with hybrid gel technology. The ease of a powder with the fresh, natural look of a cream — HydraGel Blush makes you look like you’re blushing, not like you’re wearing blush. Formulated with beneficial ingredients Shea Butter, Avocado Butter and Jojoba Seed Oil to hydrate the skin while Lavender extract provides luminosity for a fresh, natural-looking flush of pure color.

Lord and Berry Nud Lip Liner

Lord & Berry’s Lip Colour & Liner in Nude has a decent formula, but I am not sure where they get nude from as it is one of the darkest nude pencils I have seen.

This ultimate lipliner is the original Lord & Berry lip pencil. It’s easy-to-use and its formula softens and protects the skin with the nutrients from macadamia oil and waterlily extracts. You can line your lips and fill them in using this pencil- finish with a lipgloss or lipstick or a more dramatic look.

Noyah Desert Rose Lipstick Ipsy August 2015

Noyah lipstick in Desert Rose reminds me of my grandma’s lipstick in the 90s.  The formula felt a little tight and the colour is just not something I would wear.  The wear time was terrible too, it had faded in less than 30 minutes.

This semi-matte, subtle dirty-pink shade straddles the line between elegant and flirty and has just the right balance to make a polished statement at work while remaining playful enough to carry you through happy hour.

ipsy august 2015 lip swatches

Here are the swatches of the lip products, as you can see, the nude lip liner is more medium brown than nude and the lipstick belongs on a barbie doll.

Definitely my least favourite ipsy bag, and I thought about cancelling since the exchange rate means that ipsy is now close to $20 CDN because they charge in US dollars unlike Birchbox.  I was lazy and didn’t remember until I was already charged, but thankfully, my September bag was much better.  Expect an unboxing soon(ish).

  1. The moment Ipsy started costing around $20 CAD, I unsubscribed. I find the products not really worth it.
The blush and the lipstick in the bag are such a pretty shade of pink though!

I meant to unsubscribe after this one, I just didn’t do it in time. Now I got a decent one and I am torn
